Leo. Friday Feb. 17 - 99

Did not do very much today - stayed at home closely ~
slept late for I was tired. A few days ago a portugees
trader got drowned canoe turned upside down in the river
about a dozen men in it & two women - all were saved or
at least saved themselves except he, & he had about $150
in silver on his person which took him down. Good night.

Saturday Feb. 18 - 99

I made bread this a.m. We thought a lot of people were
coming over to see us but we were fooled. I helped do
some house cleaning also. I was afraid to let Sophie
do much = just after getting up from fever. Good-night.

Sunday Feb. 19 - 99

My man NKaku had the service this asm. Mr. Woolings
this pam. A little arrangment in the seats was made
yesterday. We have plenty of hymn books now ~ we were
short heretofore. We had a little walk afer service.

Monday Feb. 20 - 99

Sophie stayed in bed until about 9 o'clock and felt so
well - we were very late with breakfast, and to our
surprise Mr. Gordon & Mr. Howell came over with the
steamer & Mr. Rogers was also along. about 11 o'clock
they went away to the French side. It rained some. I
had a lot of men in trading I assisted in baking and

other things today. Sophie Quite well again Thank the
Lord.

Tuesday Feb. 21 = 1899

I went over to Kinshasa this a.m. and did what little
business there was, and ate dinner with Gordon & came
home about 5 o'clock. All well - good night - I like
to write all well.

Wednesday Feb. 22 - 99

Yesterday while over at Gordons I had a lot of corn
ground, and we are now living high on corn bread. I
marked some letters on a piece of flannel, as follows;
and Sophie has been printing them with nice
pink silk thread my 4, ty, She is making it for Mrs.
Gordon's af h little baby - it isa
buggy spreade At e > or lap robe ~ don't
yeu know - Nothing much of
interest happened.
