So Mr. G. proposed we put pa-tient in a bath - we did so & it was refreshing & temp. came down one degree & patient felt much better, took a short sleep. I stayed with him all day - gave the necessary things, and all seemed to go well. I sat up last night & Mr. W. seemed to get worse-preached sermons & won many over to Christ. Be't the Congo Ind State & was worth 6 million Pounds in a few hours. - About 2 o'clock he became worse & I sent for Gordon - we both were with him all night - this a.m. very early I called for the Dr. but he had gone away so I hunted up another who came & did all he could-he was double interested for he was a friend also of Mr. W's. But he said the patients blood was too weak to support the body and he could not survive long - 2 days at most, so he came again in the p.m. and saw that his prediction was true & about 6 o'clock and 10 minutes he passed away. Mr. Gordon went to Kinshasa early this a.m. & left me alone all day. Yesterday he said he wanted to die he felt so happy - no ache, no pain nothing hurting only he was so hot - & restless. After his death I went home & while eating supper I broke the news to Mrs. Crowley & Mrs. Gordon. After supper Gordon & I dressed him & laid him out, and had some men make a coffin. I sent some men to Kinshasa for six boards which I had there as there were none on the place long enough. I left 2 boys to sit & watch, I being so tired out I went to sleep. This a.m. early I went to have a look at the corpse & it was in nice condition - when the coffin was ready we put it into it & closed it. At ten o'clock we had a
