N.B. Saturday Sept. 16 - 99 Nothing of interest today except preparing for the Lord's day #Sophie not well - but able to be up. A little fellow, Lubaki, who came to me and wanted work is sick and I have given him medicine. Sunday Sept. 17 - 99 Laopeldville I had a headache this a.m. I rung the bell, had the boys get off to chapel for service. Nkaku preached & I came back and rested and read my bible preparatory to the Eng. service in the p.m. Mr. Woolings is not yet come back - In the p.m. I went to service and only 2 men came, they are sweedes - it is market day and all the people have their time taken up getting chop &c, then there was a sale - or Vendu - at the State - a polish Engineer died and his effects were sold, it is strange that Sunday is always picked out as a good day for a sale Monday Sept. 18 - 99 This a.m. I got up very early and sent the boys for Kwanga I went with them to the beach & had my parcel put on board & letters for our Luebo friends. I then came back and the boys brought back the full amount of Kwanga. I gave out chop for them and had breakfast. The boat whistled and I mounted my wheel & away I went - I got on board the boat, and went to Kinshasa to S.A.B. there I mounted my wheel and rode to Belgika - from there I went to Ndolo & saw some steam boats. I came back to Mr. Gordons & had dinner & tea after which we both went over to Dutch House & I got some matches. Gordon bo't a dress pattern for his wife. I bade them good day & came home - found a note from the Commissaire that I could have 25 charge on Ville de Bruxelles. I also found a note from the Judge that the little sick fellow was wanted at 8 o'clock tomorrow morning. Now we have just had our usual evening service with the boys and Mrs. Crowley taken her bath - so we shall say good night & retire. God has blest us abundantly thus far --has supplied all our needs - and cared for us. We cannot see that we have done very much work for the Master, but we know that the word will not come back to us in vain. Good night.
