Monday Sept. 11 - 1899 Ville d'Anvers on slip. I went to see Commissaire and asked for loads. He promised 25 on Ville de Bruxelles. I am in hopes he will let me have some on V d'An. however when she comes off the slip. The Dr. & Judge came over this p.m. & had tea - after which we had a game of tinis I beat - that is, I beat each of them. I have my table all spread out with papers & doing up a statement for Bro. Morrison so that he can make up his report. Now I'll say good-night. Tuesday, Sept. 12 - 1899 Leopoldville I was very busy all day with my books and papers. The S.S. Good Will came in to Kinshasa today. Mr. & Mrs. Howell on board. They will leave Thursday morning Nothing of interest has taken place. Wednesday Sept. 13 - 99 I sent for Kwanga today but received none so the State was short for the people of its own. After dinner I went over to Kinshasa on my wheel in order to see if I could get some beads for the brethren at Luebo I found none-none at S.A.P.V.; S.A.B.; Belgika nor Dutch House-neither at the French House - I had tea at Gordons - saw Mr. & Mrs. Howell - arrived home just at dark - bo't some cigars for Mr. Howell & sent him a mat. good night- Thursday Sept. 14 - 99 I sent a boy over to the boat very early this a.m. with a letter for Mr. Morgan. Later I sent boys over to Mr. Gordons for Kwanga, as he had a quantity. I rec'd 50 which will do a little more than 2 days. I am still at work on accounts. goodnight Friday Sept. 15 - 99 I had notice today that Ville d'Anvers would leave Leo on Monday for Lusambo and Luebo so I wrote letters to send, and also fixed up the parcel of books sent out by Mr. Verner and also a translation by him, which I hope to send by the boat, as I can't send loads I must send something. I went to see the Commissaire and tried to impress upon him that this was the boat I needed loads on but he would not permit as Ville de Bruxelles would be going in less than a week, so I have to be content. Good night.
