Went down to the State beach - saw some people - invited them to come to service - Met the Commissaire - had a business chat with him - "Ville de Bruge" came in with letters from Luebe all well - but Morrison had had a little fever - want me to buy some cloth & beads for them here. A truck for A.B.M.U. is in with some loads on it for the State. About 3 o'clock this p.m. Mr. Banks on Henry Reed came in we at once had some of C.B.M. loads carried to Steamer & put on - it was late before they were finished. Mr. Banks is also chopping with us. He will leave tomorrow p.m. & take the party with him. Messrs. Banks, Milne & Sjeblom had a look at an old house here which I have been negotiating to buy. I had made an offer of $200, but they came to the conclusion that it wa worth $500. I gave them a little advice & reasoned with them & soon brought them to their senses - so under certain conditions I would rent a small piece of ground & purchase the house - the purchase be £60, or $300, & the rent of the ground to be $30 per annum - then we went to see the com. & he unloaded the wagon - at noon we had our goods unloaded and at 4 o'clock they left. I went to Kinshasa with them & came back on wheel. Mr. Gordon sick. We are now alone. Good night. Busy with letters & other work. Sophie not well has fever tonight - taken with a chill this p.m. has temperature 103° sweating freely. Hope the fever will be gone by morning - gave purge 3 gr. Calomel in broken doses with soda - 10 grs. Quinine - Good night. At 5 o'clock this a.m. fever had gone temp. normal - gave 10 gr. Quinine better all day. I bought some cloth from Portugese 25 pCs Kamaza at 9 frs. 40 pcs. check at 5 fr. 16 pcs Red - blk border 6 frs 30 pc. Blue @ 5.50 fr. Went to S.A.P.V. to buy pearls but not permitted to sell - as director M. Boudour is up the Kassai - Sophie better - no fever - Good night.
