"Pioneer" Friday June 2ⁿᵈ 99 Left wooding about 6 this a.m., on our way to Belenga-About ½ an hour below we met Good-Will with Mr. & Mrs. Grenfell on board. G. W. turned around & we ran up to the side of it. We went on to Bolengi & then met Messrs. Farris & Dye & Dye's wife had a very pleasant little visit & I was shown around the place - about 4:30 p.m. we left. Camped at a wooding some 3 hours away. "Pioneer" Saturday June 3ʳᵈ 99 Left about 6 this morning for Lubanga C.B.M. where we arrived. after an uneventful voyage all day - about 6 p.m. were met by Messrs. Whytesides & Stanard & had a good supper - after a pleasant visit after supper we retired. Mr. Gilchrist & wife will occupy a large story brick building. Mr. Nye & wife who have just gone home have a fine large wooden building. Now occupied by Mr. Whitesides A nice place & plenty of people on either side of them. I long to see Sophie, but content myself with the thought that she is in the best of hands. I have now been away from her 3 days. Lulanga Sunday June 4 - 99 Avery quiet & pleasant & restful day until 4 o'clock when we heard that the Brabant had stopped at a wooding a short distance below. We at once, MᶜGregor, Stanard & myself set out to go down & see the captain and get the mails - but when we got ½ way we saw that she had started & we waited until she arrived the capt. waved that he would stop at the Mission, so we hurried Whitesides had already gone out in a canoe when we got there & the boat would land about 1 mile above & remain there for the night. After supper I got some boys & a canoe and went up to the boat - found the Capt. (Jensen) just ready to go to bed. I had a pleasant visit with him - found out that my mail had gone to Irebou - so Sophie will get it I learned also that the Dutch boat & 2 state boats had come in from Kassai-Good news "Pioneer" Monday June 5 - 99 Up bright & early - checked 50 loads for Mack. He discharged about 30 - took on 50 - After breakfast-8 o'clock we started for Bouginda. Uneventful voyage-several towns along the way. Natives all rush to the bank to see the boat go by - arrived at Bouginda about
