I went out with Mr. Vass this a.m. to buy a trunk - at last we found one & paid 26 francs for it ($5.20) Nothing of interest has taken place. Vass made a cake. I have a monkey. I forgot to mention that the Pioneer steamer of C.B.M. left yesterday with Mr. Morrey who has been here waiting for several months. Mr. Wooding also was on board & I lent him my pyjamas. Nothing of interest. I sent some food over to the steamer to a sick captain. He gave me the monkey - 4 parrots & a monkey - quite a managery - the train came in with 24 passengers - one man, an English man, has a rising in his ear & will stay with Mr. Woolings tonight. Faris & Vass went over to see the Gov. Gen. but he was out & the commissaire told them that the Gov. Gen. was going to have all the representative missionaries over to see him on Monday or Tuesday. We heard that the S.S. "Henry Reed" of A.B.M.U. came in last night & is now at Kinshasa & will be down here Monday morning. Faris will go off on her. Mr. Faris & Mr. Vass walked over to Kinshasa this a.m. I went to see Mr. Woolings & meet the Eng. gentleman. Mr. Woolings preached this a.m. & Mr. Faris this p.m. Vass & F. were back for dinner. Had roast pork & chicken Woolings & friend were here for tea this p.m. Nothing of interest going on today. Mr. Greshoff of Dutch House was over & used one room to arrange his toilet for he dined with the Gov. General of Congo. He took tea with us this afternoon. Mr. Billington, with the steamer Henry Reed came in today. He and wife will dine with us tomorrow. I met several of the state men today. good night. Nothing of interest happened in the morning Mr. & Mrs. Billington & Mr. Faris ate dinner with us today - about 5 o'clock p.m. the Governor General & the commissaire came over to pay us a visit. After about 20 minutes we went out for a walk & met Faris & Woolings & went to look at Henry Reed. Major Polkner the English Consul
