Good night. time her Friday Dec. 9 - 1898 Had the wardrobe painted - went over to see Commissaire about some loads but he did not give me a final answer-The usual work about the place. A big boat of the State came in. Quite a number of men sick - many going home-Thank the Lord that Sophie & I have neither one been sick, and we have on an average as good health as we did at home. Our parrots are lovely. Good night. has missed her flowing this Saturday Dec. 10 - 1898 This a.m. while we were eating breakfast, a boat whistled and Sophie remarked that that might be the Kassai boat-& that Mr. Verner was on it. I said no for she had been saying about the same thing for a week - Lo & behold just as we were finished In came Mr. Verner & said that Dr. Snyder was on board - so I went down & got up their loads. He has lots of curios. Mr. Verner will be going home on Wednesday next & Dr. Snyder will stay with us a month or so. He will probably go to England & purchase a Congo boat. Sophie is feeling badly but Sunday Dec. 11 - 1898 Mr. Faris preached this a.m. Mr. Verner in the after noon. Prayer meeting in our room at night. Sophie had her S. S. class. good-night same = Monday Dec. 12 - 1898 I went to see the commissaire and got permission to send 30 loads - made arrangments - At night an engineer of a boat came up just as we were sitting down to supper - we invited him to participate which he gladly did -- Mr. Verner will go gome Wednesday'- sent some bread & prunes to a sick captain. Dec. 13 -- pains are th. Tuesday Dec. 13 - 1898 Early this a.m. I went to see R.R. Agt - ofAbout getting a lot of goods down to Matadi - I made the arrangments & saved about 100 francs, by the operation Mr. Verner is getting up his loads for departure tomorrow - We had a heavy rain this a.m. continue
