Thursday Mar. 10 - 1898 Another day gone - Nothing of importance has taken place. Mr. Graham well. - Mrs. Wooding, though, was not able to take her place in the school this p.m. She has taken a cold & it seems to have settled in her chest. We are now getting our mails ready, for outgoing steamers, but as yet, we have not received the mails that should have been in the first of the month. Tonight we had guava jelly for supper & it was delicious. Made today. Good-night. Stephen & Sop. Friday Mar. 11 - 1898 We thought the mails had to go today, and we worked hard to get them off. But the P.M. Said they did not have to be in until Monday. Tonight the train was so late we did not go to get the mails, and we were expecting letters from home too. Good night - All well- Saturday Mar. 12 - 1898 This a.m. while eating breakfast Mr. Pinnock brought several letters for Sophie and some for me we were glad to get them they were about 2 weeks late - one from her Mother & Lilla - one from Anna Baker & one from Flora. We had a pleasant time reading - that is Sophie read and told me all that I ought to know - she said - and I enjoyed it too. I of course enjoyed mine but they were all business. The floors were scrubbed, bread baked &c-& preparations made for Sunday - Good night - I shall have to perform some surgical operations on-toe-nails-now. Sunday Mar. 13 - 1898 At the morning service I read the hims and scripture in Congo & called on two of the Christian boys for prayer Mr. Graham made the address - as I did not dare attempt it I can chat a little with the boys - but I don't dare make a speech or preach a sermon. In the p.m. It was Mr. G's turn I did not attend - as I felt awfully tired, but after a little nap and a walk in the cool evening air I felt refreshed & O.K. Goodnight. Monday Mar. 14 - 1898 Mr. Morgan came in from Lukunga this a.m. he has been off some time but comes back looking quite well - one side of his face swollen up with a g bite. I have written some postal cards &c & to our Luebo Friends - The Weather is quite hot now in the middle of the day, but very pleasant
