Of course they have many faults, one of them being a great unwillingness to work. 6 But many of us at home have that same fault and have not the redeeming virtue--generosity--which is possessed by these Congo children, in a marked degree. It was a great surprise to me to find them so, and if I had space I coul[illegible: 1 character] tell you many little stories of their generosity and un-selfishness to one another, some of which have been told to me and some which have come under my own observation. Mrs. Graham, whom I have mentioned several times, has two dear little boys under her care--one three and the other five years of age - they are inseparable, and the greatest punishment given to either of them is to forbid him sharing any delicacy he has with the other. One of them, the younger, causes her some little trouble, and when he is this bad, he is punished by not getting any bread in the morning and the older one is forbidden to share his with him. So when the little fellow has been good the other comes with a bright smile to tell her of it so that he may be allowed to share with his companion. Another case which happened at my own home, deeply impressed me. One day at tea, I dropped a lump of sugar on the floor and I told Mapuata he might have it. At once he hurried to divide it with the other boys. Think of it children, how many of you would divide a lump of sugar even among your brother and sisters. But no matter how large or small the quantity it is shared always. Another good trait they have is a willingness to help one another without grumbling. They[illegible: 1 word] carry hate. They seem pleased ind[illegible: unknown] and are not sulky when reproved of faults. I should like to write more, but I'm afraid Mr. will throw most of this into the waste basket. Now, I want to ask all the dear little children and others who read these lines, to pray for the health of the mission-aries here in Africa, that they may be instrumental in spreading the Gospel to the whole of the African people, and that many of the millions who are now in heathen dark-ness may be brought into the Lord's Kingdom.
