few words with 2 of the R.R. Directors - the others were unapproachable. Dr. Snyder & Mr. Jeffreys are making prep arations to go to Stanley Pool. A beautiful day - quite pleasant - Mrs. Crowley and I are to have the missionaries take tea with this p.m. at 4 o'clock. Mrs. Crowley very busy all the morning preparing for her guests. Had quite an experience making doughnuts. very nice (?) First experience in Congo you know - and with nothing but a small kerocene stove to cook them on. At 4 o'clock we had a real nice tea - our beautiful china set looked well - after tea we had a good time. Dr. Snyder, Mr. Graham & Mr. Wooding took photographs of the house and people and we had a lovely & lively time. Tonigh Dr. Snyder & Mr. Wooding are trying to develop some. Two services are going on - one in Congo & one in English language. Dr. Snyder & Mr. Jeffreys are ready to go tomorrow p.m. we would like to have them stay longer with us but they say it is impossible - we are still taking our meals with Mr. & Mrs. Graham we are both exceedingly well. We give thanks to the Lord for all. Stephen & Sophie. We have had a very pleasant day - but exceedingly busy. Sophie has been darning Dr. Snyder's stockings and mending his clothes getting everything ready for him to start on his journey to the Pool. After a hard time trying to scrape up a caravan for him and Mr. Jeffreys we managed to get them off by 5 o'clock this p.m. by sending some of my working boys and some of the B.M.S. workmen - and then I got 3 work men from Mr. Ohlenschlager. The Dr. was so anxious to go that he loft some of his things to follow later. I tryed to find a coffee pot this a.m. but there is none in any of the stores in Tumba. I met a Mr. McClentock from Chicago and he called. He has been in the employ of the Dutch House. He is leaving Africa - or rather Congo-and going to the Transvaal. We must now make an order for some provisions. We are both well. S. & S.
