Again this a.m. I have 3 carpenters and I have two of them putting up some ceiling under a zinc roof, and one on the outside finishing up the roof. Phips and I can do more work then the three but we are cautioned not to work to hard or we will be stricken down with fever. I have worked harder and done more manuel labor today than any other day for the last 10 years. I am alright tonight thank to our kind heavenly Father, who provides all things for our good. I dined again today with my friend. If our friendship holds out I may be able to do some good with him, and he will be worth a great deal to our Mission in the way of transport goods. My house is covered at last, one room is nearly ceiled - the window shutters & doors will be made later. I am making my own doors and window shutters, instead of using the panel doors the other mission houses have panel doors and glass windows. I can not afford the luxury. By tomorrow night, if I have the carpenters, but my friends lumber may come at any moment and then he will need his men. Good night. I am very tired after my hard days work. This a.m. it rained quite hard until about 9 o'clock. The carpenters did not come until that time. Phips & I had been doing some work. The men are slow and did not do much. At noon a notice was sent around to the missions that the Gov. Gen. would arrive at 1 o'clock. I signed it with the others and after dinner I went down to shake hands with him upon his arrival. Decorations were quite nice and about 2 o'clock the train came in and the Gov. with several others, on a flat car - the construction train. All who wished to speak and be introduced to the Gov. stood on one side of the street while the Col. Militia (native) stood on the other. After the Gov. Inspected the officers whom he only touched his hat to, he came down the line to where there were 4 missionaries who were introduced to him and with whom he shook hands.
