we went back again and I slept that night with the man of the house - upstairs with the head of the girls' bed against the head of mine. Mother and daughter slept together. Thursday Nov. 19-96 After a night's rest of great tumbling & rolling I got up at 8 o'clock. These people get up very late. And after taking a shave with a very dull razor and by-theway I must mention that after I retired the previous night the young lady came up to my room and took my shoes downstairs and blacked them nicely for me. Cou Hannah and myself went to Drimoleague. We went in a two wheeler cart - dump cart - no springs - good ride though - stopped at Dennis Collins who keeps a public house. I gave Cou a shilling and there was a Finn who was drinking a sailor who was home on furlough. I took Hannah to a Mrs. Donovan's where my "grip" was left for safe keeping and showed her and Mrs. D. my pictures-gave Hannah one of my photos. Started out for my cousin Michael Crowley's (Dromedeweigh) and Cou & Finn went with me as far as Dennis Collins St. where we stopped and had dinner. The drinking fellow Finn mean and a regular bore. Here an old sow - big hog with a liter of pigs in the house. This is another custom. These people all keep their chickens in the house - have regular copps made in the house for them. Had a little row because I would not walk with Finn. I then went farther to my cousin Mrs. Hanovoh Sullivan (Crowley) and stayed awhile and she and I walked over to my cousin Michael Crowley's and I found that he and his wife had gone to Schebberrur to a fare. I found two pretty little baby girls there and I am here now writing. I waited till 7 o'clock p.m. & then went over to cousin Sullivans again & found him at home. After supper Mike & Janisie, his bro. came. Janisie is learning the carpenter's trade at Donohue's Drimoleague. I had a nice pleasant visit. stayed all night and then went to Drim. in a.m. & took train for Cork. Nov. 20 - Friday Cousin Janisie & Cousin Sulivan's boy Tom (?) walked with me over to Drim. and at 8:30 I boarded the train for Cork. The fare was 3/10. On the way I fell in conversation with a young lady who boarded the train
