Laopeldville Tuesday Sept. 19 - 99

I began this a.m. and had the leads taken out ef the
magazine and weighed. Seme of the cases were very heavy,
but I think they will ge e-k. I wrete seme letters to

Wednesday Sept. 20 ~ 1899

I went te the State & had a leek around today, but spent
mest of the time at home writing ~ as Sephie jumped the
hemmeck and ran away toe Kinshasa to spend the day with
Mrs. Gerdon. Depoka did the irening Sephie came back
just at dark. The Haineut came in yesterday pom. and
breught us some letters from friends up river. Sephie
and I are both well thank Ged. I hepe we can keep so.

Thursday Sept. 21 - 1899

I had a nice cabbage from a pertugese friend teday & we
cut the head in twe & sent 4 with seme deughnuts te Hrs.

Friday Sept. 22 - 1899

This aem. I went down to the beach & berrowed a canoe and
carried my 25 charges dewn to the beach te be put on the
steamer ~ at ence, got the papers signed & all was well.
I rec'd a letter from Mr. Harvey, accepting my offer fer
a house & the rent ef these same houses fer anether year -
se I had the boys begin te de some repairing en it at

Saturday Sept. 23 - 99

The beat left this a.m. for Luebe - 2 passengers the
regular reutine ef business ~ in the pom. I went out te
de a little business and the judge and twe priests came
to see me, so Sophie sent for me. I came & we had tea -

Leopeldville Sunday Sept 24 - 99

This a.m., just after breakfast I was called down te see
Mr. Weolings. I found him very sick with fever. I at
ence diagnesed the case, gave a dese ef calemel accom-
panied with by'carbonate seda. He can net take a purge
without making him sick at the stomach, but I gave him
this in the name of seda, and he had been quiet and per-
spiring all day - his temp was 103.8° I gave him
