we camped on the way up the last veyage ~ the first day
out & left this time 2 hours later.

Left very early this am. stepped te take on seme wood
Reed left shertly after - teok en some weed & had plenty
te run 12 heurs = We waited until she caught-up with us
& then started out for a friendly race - we started side
by side keeping abreast of each ether - until Mr. Banks
thinking he could pass tried to cut acress our bew,
failing - his beat ran up tee clese te ours and the
barge which he was tewing swung up against eur wheel &
broke every fleat & some ef the spekes we stopped at
ence, but he went on never even stepping te enquire if
anything was wreng er hew serious these whe knew him
