We were te have our luggage en beard by neen but about

te sleep there & ge eff early in the morning. I fin-
ished up everything and went ever en the train we ate
supper at Gerden's, and spent the evening there ~ until
bed time - came down to the steamer made our bed ready -
and tried te sleep, but the night was a restless ene

fer us. We did not sleep much ~ being strange & censid-
erable neise with the men.

Genge River - Pieneer - Thursday May 1899

Mr. Gerdon had some temperature last night. We left
Gerden's beach at 7 e'cleck this a.m. Did net step at
the Custems. Around the peint after leaving the Peel,
on French side, we saw "Henrietta Ntanga" Duteh Heuse
steamer taking on weed - 12345 p.m. At 1:45 past state
weeding place Kinpeke 6 heuses in a rew house for
chief near the river. At 4:00 p.m. we stepped at an
eld camp used by these censtructing the tel. line.
