Monday Dec. 19 - 1898

Morrey still very sick - temp 105° far. He is put into
a bath every aem. & temp. reduced the labors of the day
in general gone through with -

Tuesday Dec. 20 - 1898

Letter writing & other things attended to - the usual
work atout the place done steamer, princess clemontine
went out for Stanley Falls - Heavily laden with passengers

Wednesday Dec. 21 - 1896

This aem. Ville d'Anvers came in Had some letters from
Luebo - Letter from Wescott Brose Lusambo, got #20 loads
O.K. Had 18 on way bill - Dr. Snyder got his pocket-book
sent back by capt. of boat. He left it on Ville de
Bruxells when it went up. Fortunate for it had $25°° in
the pocket.

Thursdey Dec. 22 - 1896

Sophie went to Kinshasa in Hammock to see Mrs. Gordon.
Dr. Snyder & I walked - we found the boat at Kinshasa

& we got on board & went to Brazzaville & had dinner

with Mr. Greshoff, came back about 2 poem. Had tea at
Gordon's Sophie came home in the Hammock & Dr. & I
walked back home again -- all well = but tired ~ good night

she had flowed slightly ~ and
ad stoppeu & severe pain in the nect, back,-abdomen &

Friday Dec. 24 - 1898

Took it quite easy most of the day - Sophie quite tired

and remained quiet in order to rest. Nothing of impor-

“ tance has taken place except Dr. Snyder is using our
camera to &ke some photographs. I could do more but

I have not had much time. Dr. is just waiting here for
a few weeks & he will go to Eng. & buy a boat for the
ission.

Saturday Dec. 24 - 1898

I helped Sophie bake cakes all the morning & we burned
them quite badly some but we did not throw away any -
sent 2 with jam between them to Mr. Greshoff - & one

to the Dutch House on this side. I sent an order in

to Mr. G. for some provisions. I got some oysters - &

pickels - lovely. I bought 2 parrots today - now I have

4 again I hope they will not die -- good night.
