Munday Aug. 22 - 1896

Got up at 4 o'clock this a.m., walked 3 miles to N'dolo
with Dr. Sims - had to wait an hour for the train Dr. went
off. Mr. Gordon & I had a cup of cocoa with a trader -
We then went fishing with a kind of a seine net - caught
some nice fish got home about 1 o'clock aem. Mr. Clark &
Mr. Howell & Miss de Hailes went off this asm. early -
Still boarding - will not be able to keep house this week-
have not finished the kitchen yet ~ good-night-~

Tuesday Aug. 23 - 1898

Intended to go to Ndolo today - cut as I got to the R.R.
the Express came in & was full of passengers -- at the .
same time a car was switched off on the side track for
me. Did some writing & work about arranging the house -
had our evening promenade - prayed with the boys & then
to bed. good-night.

Wednesday Aug. 24 - 1898

Worked hard unloading car - got some men from Dutch House
& did it up quickly -- late in p.m. Miss Dr. Fleming Mrs.
& Mr. Gerdon, Mrs. Crowley & I all went out on the lake
for a ride - our craft was a very large canoe - paddled
by 6 boys. We had a most delightful ride - good night

Thursday Aug. 25 - 1898

Nothing new has taken place - I am still helping Sophie
at ood times to arrange things - the usual routine and
the day is ended - good-night all well

Friday Aug. 26 - 1898

Was very tired last night - felt badly, but took some
medicine, which had the proper effect and today am O.Ke
The change so far has been O0.K. We have had no fever. I
hope we may not - worked about the place a little but
spent most of the time writing as that did not exert me
so much physically = our usual routine - good night. By
the way ~ had a létter from our agt. in London bringing
invoice of goods, which contains our new stove. Sophie
is anxious for its appearance.

Saturday Aug. 27 - 1898

Went to the Dutch House this a.m. found a man sick admin-
istered somewhat to his wants made him feel at east --
bought a box of soap ~- had the boys sweep up the yard.
