stating that there was a letter with napkins in it for
her & if she would send 50 cents they would forward it.
In Mrs. Wrights letter she stated that the paccel of
Congo Cloth &¢ which we sent to Eng. to be postage was
held for custom duties & the cost was $5°°. Horribleli
The whole parcel is not worth it. Had we known in time
we should have asked Mr. W. to send word to the custom
officer to pay the $5°° & keep the parcel. Cremonini is
better - All better ~ Nothing else of importance has
happened to-day. Good night. I might add that Messrs.
Pinnock & Morgan had no congregation at service tonight.

Friday May 13 - 1898

Last night I gave Mr. Silva a dose of Simmons Liver Reg~
ulator ~ some Ive had for several years. He has been
having pneuralgiva for several & today he is better ~ he
asked me what that medicine was - it worked a miricle.
Last night at bed-time I found another Portugees with
high fever & I dosed him up & now he is O.K. Mr. Silva
killed a nice kid today & sent us a $ it was very fine &
: Sophie thought it was lamb & ate heartily. It was great
fun to see her enjoy it so. After all was finished I told
her it was goat + then she did not like it and asked me
why I did not tell her ~ for said she "You know I don't
like goat meat." Good-night.

Saturday May 14 - 1898

Not an eventful day - all well- not much going on I
noticed on the R.R. track a car loaded with goods for
A.P.C.iie I will have plenty work Monday.

Sunday May 15 = 1898

Mr. Wooding preached this awm. Mr. Morgan in pom. & I at
night - this has been a lovely day. Not to warm nor to
cold. very pleasant - all well~ Good night

Monday May 16 - 1898

Very early this a.m. I loaded up a caravan of 15 men I
had my magazine put in order, for the car which I had to
unload had 324 loads on it. All was ready by noon. After
dinner when I went to unload, I found the seal broken & I
called the station master ("Chef de gare") & he told me

to go ahead and if there were any loads missing to notify
him. there were some mistakes in the Way bill & therefore
