Monday Mar. 7 ~ 1898

Did some work about the place. Made a hee handle. Sephic
taught in school & baked bread. I shelled some corn &
ground it and we hed a levely Johnny cake for dinner. The
native beys opened wide their eyes to think that bread
could be made from corn. They never make any other use
of it except te roast it on the cob and eat it that way.
We had Mr. Cameron & Mr. Finneck for supper the Commis-

of 1/4 of nice beef. The mails came, but none for us.

his mother, in Scotland. About 4 o'clock Mr. Cemeron went
away, and Mr. Wooding, Mr. Pinnock & myself went a short
distance with him. We carried our guns but nothing was
hurt except a nice dove which I shot, and gave it to a

sick man. When we got back we found Mr. Graham with fever
Good night.
