been very sick fer about aweek and kept getting worse.
He would net eat er drink anything and it was a very hard
matter to get any medicine dewn him se I saw that if
things went on in the same way much lenger, the peor deg
would die, & I get him out of his misery at once.

This a.m. I went te work deing the necessary things
abeut the place & Mrs. C. did some baking. She made some
nice custard and rells for a sick man. I carried them te
him and then went te the market. I be't some nice sweet
petatees, but they are rather high, for about & peck I
had te pay 20 cents. Everything in prepertieon is very
high, and unless a person is a geod manager and able te
exchange either articles or money for what he needs, in
the preper economic way, he will soen run agreund. IT
settled a palava also at the market. One boy be't a
squash and ene of the seldirs deliberately teek it te
himself. The boy was ene of Mr. Graham's boys se I went

at once to his relief and seen had the preperty restored
te its rightful owner.

Mr. & Mrs. Wooding went eff this p.m. te one of the
neighboring towns to stay a day er twe and preach the goes.
pel. Mr. Mergan is by himself and so will ceme & eat
supper with us tomorrow night. I shet an ox today and
temerrow we will have some nice beef - shall I tell the
price of beef here - 35 cents per 1b. any part steak,
roast er flank, soup bene or what not = all the same.
After supper we began reading the presbyterian standards
in cennexion with the Confessien of Faith & Catechion.
After our reading, Mr. & Mrs. Graham came over and stayed
awhile. By the way, I am ene third interested in a
nice little female denky, and today she had a colt, but
it came premature and did not live ~ it is such a pity toe
fer such animals in this country are very valuable. In
America they can be be't with a song and the purchaser
could sing it himself. The little Mexican Jacks &
Jennetts that the American peeple would net have - and
could be bo't & sold fer $5°° a piece, are worth here
from $50°° te §100°®, However I managed to get mine er
least my interest in mine very cheaply. It seems that
mere things has happened teday than usual, or perhaps J]
am more in a meed to ge inte details. Sephie and I are
beth well, & we hepe our parents & friends are also. Our
mails are behind. Good night. S&8 Crowley
