had come out on his ship a year before.

As I went to dinner today I saw Mr. Vermij with a fever.
I did nothing for him until about 5 o'clock when I gave
him a purges Mr. D'Angremond was also quite ill with a
very bad cold. I mixed up some medicine for him after
supper when I was ready to go home & retire I gave Mr.
V. some Quinine with instructions to take more in the
aeme I gave D'Angremond his medicine & went home. A
Mr. who come out on the S.S. Edward Bohlen took
supper with us.

Sunday June 20 - '97

After breakfast this a.m. I went down to see how Mr.
D'Angremond & Vermij were. V. had fever but was getting
better. D'Angremond was better also, but at noon he did
not come out to chope Mr. V. at noon was clear of fever
& chopped with us. Capt. Cremonini was up to see me this
aem. & said he would be up this p.m. to service which
will begin now in a few minutes. After-noon & evening
procedings, Capt. Cremonini did not come up to service.
But we had a fine sermon Mr. Graham preached & he de-
livered a most excellent talk. Service was held in the
evening at C.B.M. ~ Mr. & Mrs. Wooding come in from
Wathen this pam.e - Mr. Wooding led the service & read

a chapter from the book written by Dr. Miller.

Monday June 21 - 97

Mr. Vermij went out & worked some this asm. but at noon
he had a tumble in again with fever I nursed him through
it & gave him the proper dedicine. Most that I did today
was to look after a sick man and attend to the duties
about the place.

Tuesday, June 26 — 1897

I have kept with Mr. Vermij most of the morning and kept
him from being imprudent and getting another fever. He
is quite clear of fever now. This pom. I had 2 o'clock
tea with Mr. & Mrs. Wooding. I borrowed some books from
Mrs. W. in order to read up something on the Queens
reign - You see I am appointed or rather elected chair-
man of the entertainment which is to take place tonight.
