pot to make soup & carried down some other things & every-
thing was ready. At out dining Mrs. Graham & Mrs. Staple-
ton were not and those who ate at the table were Mr.
D'Angremond the generous host & chief agt. of the Duteh
House at Tumba, Mr. Graham Mr. & Mrs. Weeks, Mr. & Mrs.

. Kirkland, Miss Grenfell, Mr. Pennock, all of B.M.S. Miss
Vigart who will be married to a Mr. Christopper as soon
as she gets to the Fool - she is of A.B.M.U. Messrs.
Morgan & Wooling of C.B.M., Messrs. Ohlenchlager & Vernij
Bookkeeper & clerk of the Dutch House & I, J. 8. Crowley
of A.P.C.M. We had a very pleasant time. By the way
Mr. & Mrs. White & Mrs Stevens of BM.S. also were at
dinner with us. Mr. & Mrs. Kirkland went off for the
Fool about 4 o'clock.

Wednesday June 16 - '97

Nothing very much done today. Mr. Stevens & Mr. & Mrs.
White & Mrs. Pepel's little orphan child are making
preparations to go off tomorrow. Mr. D'Angremond is also
making arrangaents to go to Imkisei to select a site for
the location of the new factory which will be built there
as anew station will be opened up by the R.R. Co. Mr.
Leech & wife the former Engineer of the §.8. Leopoldville
came up on the train from Matadi & will go back tomorrow.

Thursday June 17 ~ 1897

I got up early this a.m. & went to see my friends off on
the train. Mr. D'Angresond left about 10 o'cloek. I
sold to a chief of some village, Sibelundi all the old
seraps of zinc which I had left from my house for 45
frances. I also sold him some other little things for
his house for 15 francs. Yesterday I bo't a bed from Mr.
Duarte a portugus fellow who was in the employ of the
Dutch House, but who has gone off.

Friday June 18 1897

Nothing very much has been done by me todaye About 5
o'clock Mr. Wooling & myself went out for a little hunt.
I shot a bird we killed nothing else when I went down to
the Dutch House for supper I met Capt. Tubbs of the 8.3.
Leopoldville & Mr. Biermans & Mr. Gofin engineer & dir-
ector of chermin de fes after supper I went with the
capt. to see the Missionaries who came out on his ship
