Nothing of interest has occurred today. I went on with
my veranda between times. Good night.

Friday May 28, 1897
Again nothing but the usual round of work. The rain has
ceased & we will have no more for some time.

Saturday May agth '97
Had water bro't ~ had the yard swept - gave the boys

their weekly allowance, took supper with D'Angremond.

Sunday May 30°» 1897

Iwas the leader this a.m. in the service for the natives.
I gave out the hymns &. In the native language I called
on Mr. Frame to pray, then one of the natives, I had
NKaku to read & preach & he did nicely. In all our ser-
vice was very good. Mr. Morgan went sound asleep. Poor
Mrs. Popel who gave birth te a child some time ago & has
been ill ever since died last night - just one month

from the time her husband died. The fimeral service was
held in the house at three oclock, after which the corpse
was taken to the cemetery Mr. Finock led. On Friday night
Mr. & “rs. Bowen of A.B.M. mission arrived from Matadi

& also Mr. Ellis & Miss Radkin - Miss Radkin is engaged
to a fellow up river & will be married shortly after her
arrival at the station.

This a.m. Mr. & Mrs. White came in from Stanley Pool
and are on their way home to England. They will take the
little baby Popel home with them and deliver him to his
relatives there.

Service was held tonight at C.B.M. Mr. Bowen was
leader & only made a few remarks. Good night.

Monday May 31 '97

I have a ease of dysentery on hand ~ that is, the boy
who formerly cooked for me, and whom I discharged after
keeping him 2 months went to work for chermin de fes and
is now very bad off. I have been giving him medicine -
he came to me for it. He is entitled to treatment from
the R.R. phycisian but he has more confidence in me than
in him. Today while at work on the verandah, I had a
note from D'Angremond asking me to come & see Mr. Burteou
who is cheif Agt. at TuekuFuke. I went down and found
